Back to Kinsol

May 01, 2015 by Norm Leslie

Four intrepid riders set out from the parking just south of Kinsol Trestle to explore the TransCanada Trail as it heads north towards Duncan.  Much to our surprise the trail was in relatively good condition.  Both the southern and northern ends of the ride were on good quality small size gravel.  The mid section - about 4-5 km is on well graded logging road with no gravel and relatively few potholes.  We rode for about 15 km through mixed scenery reminiscent of the Sooke hills. .  Our ride passed without incident, but fat tires are essential as is a good repair kit as there are no cross roads until km 12 or so.

We got as far as the well equipped picnic area and trail head at Glenora Road then returned the same way.  For our next "out trip" we will explore the trails along the Cowichan River stating from the Glenora Trailhead.
