The final stage - just like the Champs Élyssées

The final stage - just like the Champs Élyssées

Final Stage

January 24, 2016 by Norm Leslie

The final stage of the Tour Down Under is very much like the Tour de France, instead of riding on the Champs Élysées, it is along King William Street and around the Adelaide Oval [home of the local Aussie Rules Footie teams and South Australian cricket]. At the south end of the track is Victoria Square which is race central during the TDU with lots of booths from sponsors and teams as well as food, wine and beer - we are in Australia after all. As in the hills stages, the speed of the Peloton is impressive. Although there were over 100,000 spectators along the route, there was still lots of room to get close to the action - even right opposite Adelaide Town Hall.
