A Ride with Gravitas

February 18, 2016 by Norm Leslie

Tuesday finally dawned with dry weather and some sunshine!! A welcome change. Eight riders left Fol Epi at 9:30 and proceeded to Royal Roads following the Goose. Six riders met Jack at Colwood corners with two dropping off (David and Cy) along the way. Conversation over coffee centred on our recent rainy weather and comparisons to places like Calgary (much expertise around the table). Calgary weather brought up the dynamics of tall buildings under wind stress. Jack tried to explain the source, measurement and importance of gravity waves but failed miserably – losing most with the operation of a laser interferometer.

The return ride was uneventful with all but Tom taking the E&N trail back to Victoria.

If you are looking to make your ride more challenging on an intellectual level, without talking about an interferometer, you might try using the GPS tracker as in this example about a Victorian citizen in the Sydney Morning Herald.
